Snow prompting delays during busiest travel day of the year


A wintery mix on some Indiana roads means you may want to make some adjustments to your Thanksgiving travel plans.

Flakes began to fall in Bartholomew County Monday — an unwelcome sign for some planning on hitting the road.

“I’m always worried, especially with three kids,” said Tracy Bohler, who has plans to drive to Northern Illinois on Wednesday. “It’s the busiest travel day of the year. The only thing we can do is leave Thursday morning for Thanksgiving. Other than that, we’ll have to stick with our plans. Grandma expects us.”

INDOT said crews spent the day pre-treating bridges and ramps in time for Wednesday’s heavy traffic. AAA predicts nearly 40-million people will be hitting the nation’s highways this holiday.
